The Royals placed struggling reliever Jimmy Gobble on the disabled list before Tuesday’s game against Detroit because of a strained lower back.

Gobble surrendered 10 runs on seven hits and four walks in one inning Monday LMAO in a 19-4 loss to the Tigers at Kauffman Stadium. That meltdown zoomed his ERA to 11.31 for 31 appearances.

The Royals replaced Gobble by recalling reliever Joel Peralta from Class AAA Omaha. Peralta was optioned to the O-Royals on Monday to clear space for Leo Nuñez’s return from the disabled list.

Players must remain in the minors for at least 10 days when optioned unless recalled to fill a vacancy created by a player going on the disabled list.
