Name my cat

Subject: Name my cat Mon Jun 16, 2008 11:05 am

On Friday (the 13th no less) I resuced a very small feral kitten from the retirement community where I work. Hopefully, we are keeping it (hubby says NO but he's warming to the idea).

He/She's black and white, a fairly typical "tuxedo" cat. We're not sure about the sex but believe it to be a girl. We've been tossing around names all weekend (no, they won't go for "Magglio") but haven't settled on anything. My hubby and oldest son aren't Tigers fans, so I don't think we'll have a Tigers name. She/he was found near the golfcourse, so we thought maybe "Birdie" or "Bogey". My oldest son, the English major, would like her/him to have a literary name.

Any suggestions you guys can come up with would be appreciated. I will try to post a picture of her/him tonight.

Well....you could tie in the Golf Course thing with our team and name him Tiger....Tell hubby he's named after Tiger Woods! lol

Hedda (Hedda Gabler, although if you believe that there's anything in a name, this might not be a good idea)
Peasblossom (A Midsummer Night's Dream, Shakespeare... I just really like this name for some reason :haha:)

Tiger is the best bet but for literary names...umm.....I'm not very well-read but here's a few:
Sancho (from Don Quixote)
Fyodor
Dmitri
Ivan
Alexei (These last few are all from The Brothers Karamazov).

Oh wait, you said girl. Umm....
Grushenka? (The Brothers Karamazov Again).
Dulcinea? (Don Quixote)
Oh, a normal one from a reasonably literary book! Scout, from To Kill a Mockingbird).

My cat's name is Linkin....the kids picked it out. If I ever get another cat, I'm going to name it Binge...he'll be an outdoor cat to "Catch" mice.

I'm not much help with names... my cat's name's are Mouse and Tootsie...

My dogs names are Joey and Grace. Joey was named after "Dawson's Creek" (Joey Potter)....

Local university in Michigan, close to home and family-- very important. Going into my second year now.

Well, we're not keeping her. There has been a fight in my house ever since I brought her home and I guess I lost. My son has a girlfriend who wants to take her. She's picking her up today. This morning, I didn't want to disturb my little kitty so I left without saying goodbye. It hurts. I've had little joy in my life for the past couple of years and she brought some back to me. Oh well. Life goes on.

Well, the friend's dad talked her out of it. She wants one that is already spayed.

Maybe it's meant that I should have her/him.

How about "Mookie" because of the cow coloring and also for Mookie Wilson, ex-Met? Any other good non-Tiger baseball names?
