| This is sort of a war movie I guess. I doubt I'll like this but you never know. Review should be ready in 2 hours or so. | |

| I generally am not a big fan of war movies, but I'll be honest - this wasn't bad. I was worried that by adding Grace Kelly this was going to be some love story that drug on forever like in Pearl Harbor, but that doesn't happen.
Anyways, this movie is about a guy, Lt. Brubaker, who was a veteran of World War II that became a civilian but is needed for a mission during the Korean War. The mission is basically to blow up the bridges at Toko-Ri. That's probably more than enough so I'll stop there. The plot is pretty good and the movie isn't all that long so nothing really drags all that much. As I mentioned earlier, this isn't much of a love story in here. The fact that Brubaker has a wife and kids probably enhances the film as the viewer can sort of sympathize with him - he is not just some random soldier, but rather a human who has a life outside of battle.
This film stars William Holden and Grace Kelly. Holden is good here although his performance in Sunset Boulevard was probably better. Kelly didn't have a huge role in this film but she was pretty good while on screen.
Overall, this movie wasn't bad. It takes a rather straightforward story and tells it rather well. There were some pretty good action scenes in here and the special effects were probably the best I've seen in a movie this old.
81.5/100 B-
