Tigers show for support for Red Wings
Players wear Wings colors during batting practice on Saturday

DETROIT -- The Tigers showed their support for their owner's other team on one of the biggest sports days this city has ever seen.

Their owner, Mike Illitch, also owns the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League. The Red Wings advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 2002, with Game 1 on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Penguins a few blocks away at Joe Louis Arena.

With the Hockeytown Café rocking across the street from Comerica Park, the Tigers donned the Red Wings' colors on Saturday night before the middle game of a three-game series with the Twins. They wore red hats during batting practice with the Olde English D in white on the front and "Detroit" in white on the back.

The giant Tiger statue in front of the park wore a Red Wings jersey, as did several field attendants. On-the-field security guards also wore the red hats.

"It's a great thing for the city," outfielder Curtis Granderson said. "Having good teams like this really gets people excited."

The Tigers and Red Wings weren't the only ones in action on Saturday night. The Detroit Pistons also played at home in Game 3 of the National Basketball Association's Eastern Conference finals against the Boston Celtics.

Support for the Pistons was also present in the Tigers' clubhouse before Saturday's game.

Blue Pistons jerseys were seen at several players' lockers, and reliever Zach Miner wore a Pistons T-shirt under his uniform.

I missed all that! Including the Tiger! I entered [ like I usually do] from the entrance by the main retail shop near the bleachers
