1-0 White Sox on the sac fly. Lopez gets out of the inning with only the 1 run scoring. Charge that run to Willis.

Just think ..the Tigers could have kept what they had last year while adding a hitter here and there and still had the services of Miller and Jurgens. We could use both of those guys right now.

He looks a little sharper than the last match-up we had with him. A little more action on the ball.

"We could use both of those guys right now."

I'm not saying this trade has been good so far or anything, but you might want to look at how they're doing before you just make that claim:

Miller: 0-1, 2 GS, 7.7 IP (in 2 starts!), 12.91 ERA, 2.478 WHIP. Even for our staff that's bad. The bright side? He's batting .333 (1-3).

Jurrjens: 1-1 with a 4.38 ERA (87 ERA+) so far. That's not bad, but nothing great either.

It's hard to see Willis getting it together any time soon... maybe now that he's injured JL will consider bringing Porcello up from the minors. Not sure what other candidates we have.

I am beginning to wonder whether the Marlins were pretty happy to offload Willis to increase what we had to give them for Cabrera.

I stand by what I said. I believe Willis was hurt even before the trade was made. He has been wild since last year and if he were one of Detroit rising stars he would still be in Toledo the way he's pitching. Not trying to say he doesn't have a history but I am saying that I dont see him contributing much with whatever is ailing him, especially with a pitching coach like Hernandez who has really done nothing with this staff (as measured by improvement).

Like I said, I'm not saying Willis is great or anything but as of right now Miller and Jurrjens haven't done much of anything this year either. Over time, sure but right now? They've done nothing this year (not that Willis and Cabrera have done anything either).

As a respectful White Sox fan, I want to extend my condolences to you guys over Willis' injury. Even though he has been having some major control problems, that's the last thing your club needed at this point.

I would also like to point out that as someone who has attended many Sox games in the past twenty years, that Sox fans don't typically boo unless there is good reason to do so (or we're playing the Cubs). In my honest opinion, I think the boos you guys heard tonight had more to do with the fans' displeasure of the game stalling than anything else. Look at the garbage weather we've got here tonight; I wouldn't want to be there longer than necessary either.

I try not to frequent other teams' boards in fear of being labeled as some sort of troll, so I shall take my leave.

Best of luck in the rest of tonight's game and the rest of the season.

- T

I'm not one of those who regrets our trading Jurrjens and Miller - things have really fallen in a heap for us pitching-wise but not all of the problems can be blamed on the management... e.g. Rodney's injury, Byrdak's meltdown, Verlander's poor starts.

On early form it's looking like a painful season, but things can turn around.

The combination of an amazingly weak hitting offense, maybe the worst pen in the game and starters that are average and very inefficent does not signal much promise for the Tigers. This reminds me of the Tiger teams that lost 100 games. You could tell about 10 games into the year that only bad things were coming.

Willis looks like he really will take some time to get his stuff back together, and that is assuming he did not injure himself.

Its funny to think how much positive press this team got over the winter. This might be the most over hyped team ever.

Just jumped in . . .

So Willis hyperextended his knee? I bet the Tiger front office will have a few things to say to the grounds crew in Chicago.

I'm already tired of Hawk. Makes me appreciate the Red Sox guys. They weren't bad at all.

Rapada is going to re-injure himself this season, mark my words.

The Tigers are going to be considered the "Titantic" of MLB teams.

I believe we are witnessing the early stages of a historic collapse. The '08 Tigers will be talked about for years as an example of "you can't buy a pennant."

This is so incredibly painful....just painful.

Listened to Valente and Foster today on 97.1 and they were talking about the Tigers being a sub 500 team from the Allstar game of 2006 until right now. Maybe with this pitching staff that's all they really are. It really is ashame when you think about it. What could be .. if only.

41884.68 in reply to 41884.58

Finally past this silly 24 hour waiting period to post.

This has been a frustrating game to watch. I about had a heart attack when, after a very good relief outing from Lopez, Leyland turned to the worst pitcher in the pen in a 1 run game. Miraculously, he got out of a bases loaded (of his own doing) jam and then pitched two 1-2-3 innings. That's great except it means he'll probably be turned to again before he should be. I hope he doesn't come out to start the next inning. Don't press your luck Jimmy. We don't want to see what's behind door number 3!

On the upside, I was pleasantly surprised to see Mr. GIDP was given the night off. I was also glad to see Carlos in the 3 hole. He's been the only one producing in the middle of the lineup so it makes sense to get him more at bats.

I hope Leyland is wise enough to realize that Thomas needs to be in the lineup until he plays his way out of it. Even though he only has the one hit tonight, he's hit the ball hard every time up. If Mr. GIDP is back in the lineup tomorrow, Jones should be the one to sit, not Thomas. Also, Mr. GIDP should not be batting above 6th until he starts swinging the bat better.

That's all from me. Hello from Albuquerque fellow Tiger fans. Here's hoping they get this ship righted soon.

"Mute the thing. That's what I do when I have to listen to them at all."

That's what I'm doing. I'm watching the Tigers and listening to Vin Scully.
It turns out Scully is a better announcer than Harrelson.

Not me. I'll just chalk it up to every other relief pitcher we have being inept as well. Seriously, how freaking hard is it to throw strikes?

To quote the idiot White Sox announcer on Swisher: HE GONE!

I will admit at first glance, Konerko's flyout looked like a moonshot.

If you guys think Harrelson is bad now, you should have heard him together with Tom Paciorek. I used to think they were going to have to start a suicide watch for those two when the Sox were getting hammered.

I remember that. Actually, Pacoriek from all accounts got canned because he was too "impartial."

Pacoriek went to double duty for the Tigers & Mariners for a few years and then worked with the Braves and wasn't too bad, but had "Harrelson-like" manners. He went to Washington in 06, but they let him go afterwards.

Harrelson is probably on suicide watch whenever the Sox lose. Now if Darrin Jackson & Jack McDowell are in the booth, they're pretty darn good and Jackson actually seems he knows a thing or two.

I'd call for Bud Selig to fire Ken Harrelson. He's a disgrace to announcers everywhere and the only announcer to make Joe Buck AND Tim McCarver sound like Ernie Harwell & Vin Scully.

I just hope he uses his offspeed pitches for a change instead of trying to impersonate a power pitcher by overthrowing his fastball. Whenever he comes out and tries to overthrow, he's all over the place.

Jones gives me a couple of blocked arteries, but nothing serious.

Grilli (minus tonight) gives me a cardiac arrest.
