| Rangers finding no interest in Tejeda deal By ANTHONY ANDRO Star-Telegram Staff Writer
SAN ANTONIO -- Rangers right-hander Robinson Tejeda, designated for assignment before the season started, is still available in a trade although there's been little interest in him.
The Rangers have until Wednesday to complete a trade for Tejeda or he's subject to be picked up via waivers. Texas went through the same process for Nelson Cruz, who made it through waivers and is now at Triple A Oklahoma.
It doesn't look like there are any takers out there for Tejeda right now.
"There's nothing right now," Rangers general manager Jon Daniels said. "I don't expect we will trade him."
In two seasons with the Rangers, Tejeda is 10-14
Orioles up first
Last season the Rangers opened at home with the Boston Red Sox, ensuring the series would have a big draw.
This season's home opener is against Baltimore, with Toronto following on Friday. Texas won't face top draws Boston and New York until August and September.
That could hurt ticket sale numbers early on.
"You would like to face those teams early in the year so you would have those big gates early," Rangers president Nolan Ryan said. "You have to deal with the schedule. If our attendance doesn't reflect where we were last year, I can't get too excited about it. You can't compare last year to this year."
Ryan said the Rangers' going 3-3 on the road trip could help build momentum, which could aid ticket sales.
