"More than likely [he'll be out] both days," Bochy said. "He's pretty sore. He wants to play. This is my decision. At this point, I think we're better off trying to get it to calm down and give him a couple of days. He's a little sorer, I think, than he's telling us." Rowand, who's hurting on his left side, affirmed he wanted to play, but doubted that Bochy would allow him even to pinch-hit. "Boch said he wanted to give me the full day off and not take any swings," said Rowand, who's batting a team-high .385 (5-for-13). Rowand, who hurt himself Wednesday night at Los Angeles while diving for Blake DeWitt's bloop double, was noticeably slow running the bases upon hitting a sixth-inning double Friday. It was not immediately known whether Rowand would undergo X-rays to check for a possible fracture. In another injury-related development, Bochy said that left-hander Noah Lowry, who's recovering from surgery to his throwing forearm, tossed a ball at a 90-foot distance Friday and is expected to try to throw off a mound in a week to 10 days. Lowry isn't expected to pitch competitively until early May at the soonest, revising the initial late-April estimate. Chris Haft is a reporter for MLB.com.
