Tonight on Turner Classic Movies is a Hitchcock Marathon - all 5 of his films from the 1960s. Up First: The Birds
I'm really looking forward to this one (and Psycho ) as both Hitchcock films I've seen so far have been most excellent. My dad says this is the best Hitchcock film other than North By Northwest so we'll see.

The acting wasn't bad, the plot wasn't bad, but it just never really got me all that excited. I suppose the effects were pretty good for the early 1960s, but I don't know. It just never really did much. The plot was too bizarre. The mystery was kind of intriguing, but the ending really blew it - there was no ending. That ending, or lack thereof, really left me wondering what the point of the film and attacks were and since the questions the movie posed were left completely unanswered the film is penalized severely when it comes time to score it. For those literary experts, this ending reminds me a lot of The Crying of Lot 49 - there was no ending.
66/100 D
UP NEXT: That film left much to be desired. Let's try again with another Hitchcock film starring Tippi Hedren - Marnie

It sucked, but it wasn't that bad. Remember, I'm a very hard grader. I grade like grading on a curve should be:
68% get a C 17% get a B and 17% get a D 2.5% get an A and 2.5% get an F
Based on that, films like The Maltese Falcon (97%) are truly excellent. Even great movies like A Streetcar Named Desire and On The Waterfront don't get A's from me.

Well, I wasn't really planning on see this movie anyways. I heard it was (lack of a better word), crazy. I might end up seeing it one of these days.

I'm more interested in Psycho but Marnie is up first. I don't know how many of these movies I can watch tonight. I'll DVR the rest.

Someone touring Fenway Park was attacked by a hawk and hospitalized today. Cue creepy music....
(she was okay)

This makes me nervous - the Hitchcock movies are replaying themselves. First this, now what? Maybe I won't shower tonight. I certainly won't be staying at the Bates Motel anytime soon.

It was bizarre for 1963...and that's what probably drew people.
