TIGERS FALL TO BRAVES: The Tigers suffered a 3-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves last night. Denny Bautista (0-1) allowed two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to take the loss for Detroit. Placido Polanco finished with two doubles and an RBI for the Tigers, while Timo Perez added an RBI.

MAYO SMITH SOCIETY HONORS ORDONEZ: Prior to this afternoon’s game against Toronto, the Mayo Smith Society will present the 2007 King Tiger Award to Magglio Ordonez. The award honors the Tigers player for both on- and off-field contributions.

PUDGE PACKING A PUNCH: Ivan Rodriguez has hit safely in seven of his last nine games, including homering in four of the games. During the nine-game stretch, he is batting .520 (13x25) with two doubles and five home runs. Rodriguez is currently leading the Grapefruit League with six home runs this spring.

POLANCO’S PRODUCTION: Placido Polanco has hit safely in 15 of his 17 games during Grapefruit League action this spring, batting .449 (22x49). He is currently tied for the lead in the Grapefruit League with 22 hits, while he is fourth with a .449 batting average.

CHECKING THE LEADER BOARDS: Carlos Guillen is tied for second in the Grapefruit League with five home runs, while Curtis Granderson and Marcus Thames are tied for seventh with four home runs. Granderson is second with a .761 slugging percentage and tied for for sixth with 35 total bases. Placido Polanco and Ivan Rodriguez are both tied for sixth in the league with 35 total bases this spring.

TIGERS TIDBITS: Miguel Cabrera has hit safely in seven of his last nine games, batting .417 (10x24) with three doubles and a home run...Marcus Thames has homered in two of his last three games and four of his past seven games.

Getting a base hit. If someone gets a base hit in each game, three games in a row, he has "hit safely in three games."
