March 17, 2008 Reds at the plate: Ken Griffey Jr. hit an RBI single in the first inning, Adam Dunn lifted a home run over the right-field fence to lead off the fourth and Jerry Gil hit an RBI double in the seventh. Gil would go on to score on an error. In the eighth, Ryan Freel added an RBI single. Tigers at the plate: During a two-run first inning, Miguel Cabrera walked with the bases loaded, and another run scored on Jacque Jones' groundout. In the eighth, Carlos Guillen doubled and then scored on Cabrera's single.Reds on the mound: Starter Johnny Cueto gave up two earned runs and two hits over four innings, walking three and striking out four. Josh Roenicke worked a scoreless fifth inning, despite giving up a pair of two-out walks and a single that loaded the bases. David Weathers pitched one perfect inning before giving way to Francisco Cordero, who gave up one earned run on four hits and striking out two in two innings. Tigers on the mound: Starting pitcher Kenny Rogers went five innings, allowing two earned runs on six hits with one walk and one strikeout. Denny Bautista pitched a scoreless sixth, giving up one hit and striking out one. | Glad Rogers went five again, I think he is in better shape than our other starters, endurance wise.
