Saturday, March 1 Indians at the plate: Ben Francisco had Cleveland's only two extra-base hits, resulting in two of its three runs. He homered leading off the second inning before his ground-rule double tied the game in the eighth. Grady Sizemore reached base safely in all three of his plate appearances, with two singles and a walk. Victor Martinez also added two hits, including an RBI single in the third. Tigers at the plate: Placido Polanco and Miguel Cabrera each hit line drives deep into center field in a two-run opening inning -- Polanco with a triple, Cabrera with an RBI double. Brandon Inge added an RBI single. Ramon Santiago put Detroit back ahead in the sixth, when he singled in pinch-runner Marcus Thames. Inge reached base safely in all three trips to the plate. Indians on the mound: Starter C.C. Sabathia allowed two runs on five hits in two innings of work in his first outing of the spring. Aaron Laffey, Jeremy Sowers and Jensen Lewis followed with a scoreless inning each before Jorge Julio gave up a run. Tigers on the mound: Francisco's home run was the only run off of Dontrelle Willis in his first start as a Tiger. He worked two innings before Cleveland tied the game off of Todd Jones. Chris Lambert and Denny Bautista followed with two scoreless innings apiece. Tim Byrdak gave up the other run before Preston Larrison closed with two hitless innings. Grapefruit League records: Indians 1-1-1, Tigers 3-0-1. Up next: The Tigers and Indians meet again Sunday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. ET game in Winter Haven. Kenny Rogers will make his first start of the spring opposite Jake Westbrook. Cabrera, Carlos Guillen, Gary Sheffield, Edgar Renteria and Magglio Ordonez will be among those making the short bus ride across Polk County.
