It's just an AMAZING feeling of excitement and anticipation for the start of tonight's game!

I was really fortunate to experience both the '68 and '84 teams, but THIS season is really "Special" because nobody was expecting this Team to go this far!

I am ready! The beers are on ice, the chips and snacks are just waiting to be gobbled up!

Now, just waiting for the rest of the family and close friends to get here to cheer on our favorite Baseball Team!

Go Get 'Em Tigers!
Sock it to 'Em!
Bless You Boys!
The Roar is Back!

Detroit Tigers, World Series Champions 2006!!!!

I hear you loud and clear!

However, Leyland seems to have a Magic Touch with his moves and substitutions that I have the utmost confidence that he is doing the right thing!

It's almost like if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I thought that Shelton would have been added to the Roster, but apparently Leyland and his staff do not have the confidence that Shelton would bring much to the team at this point of time.

.....by the way, Ernie Harwell is going to be doing the 2nd inning tonight on 1270 am!

Go Tigers!!!!

Since I moved down here to Houston I obviously dont get much Michigan talk on the local news channels. However on one of the local newscasts they just talked about sports success in Detroit. Pistons had the best record in the NBA, same with the Wings in the NHL. WNBA title, Tigers in the World Series, Michigan ranked #2, hosted the All Star game and Super Bowl. Come on LIONS lol

Note how Anthony Reyes, Cardinal Pitcher, is wearing his socks tonight. I think this could be a distraction to the hitter with those white rings waving around.

1 to 1...it's important the Tigers stay close until the 4th inning when their hitters have gone through the order at least once. The Tigers had a week off, so their timing might be a little off. That Guillen is a clutch hitter.

Go Magglio Ordonez !

There is only one rule when playing the Cardinals: Don't pitch to Albert Pujols with 1st base open and runners on. The Tigers didn't follow that rule and it hurt them. Hopefully the Tigers bats will come to life in the next couple of innings.

Wow - this thing went the wrong way in a hurry.
Why was McCarver complaining that Edmonds' bunt attempt was a bad play. If Inge is going to play him far enough back, it sounds like a good play to me.
Verlander just can't throw fat pitches to Albert in that situation. The ball was waving bye bye before it even got to the plate.

4 to 1 Cards....the Tigers need to chip away at the lead. The Tigers appear to be a bit sluggish to start the game.

If the Cardinals win the first game, I think the Tigers win the series in 6 games.

Go Maggs.

The major sluggishness of the Tigers, as I see it, is spelled V-E-R-L-A-N-D-E-R. Both homer off him were pitches right over the heart of the plate to hitters who have no problem knocking them out of the park.

Is the radar gun off? 94 is the fastest it has shown. That HR to Rolen read 79mph and Mcarver said it was a fastball. It looked like a change up but maybe about 84 or so. Even so, What the heck is Verlander doing throwing an off speed pitchup in the zone to a guy with a bad shoulder that can't get his bat around on a high fastball.

He doesn't look as though he has his normal pace on the ball.

That and the pitch to Pujols made no sense. Stupid stupid pitching.

That's about it--mindless pitching. There was no excuse for Verlander grooving that pitch right in Pujols' wheelhouse. If he wanted to pitch to Pujols, that's fine. But why on earth did he have to help Pujol with a pitch like that?

Tigers aren't going to be able to get back into this one the way the Cardinals bullpen has been going. It would take a massive collapse by two or three of the bullpen members and I just can't see that happening - but the remote chance is there that it could.

And the bad part of it is that I just do not see why they are having trouble hitting this guy. His fastball is only so-so, and I don't see where there is much movement at all on his pitches. To me, he's just an ordinary pitcher. I'm afraid that week layoff has taken the tigers out of their game.

Why are we wasting Rodney? I like Leyland and everything but I don't really think we need to use him. The work won't hurt or anything but still. That seems almost as dumb as putting Rogers in would be. Who am I to second guess, though Leyland is a genius, maybe Rodney will bat, too and hit us a few HR's or something. Down 6 with 2 hits we have pretty much no chance at winning this game.

Hang in there guys. As Yogi said, "It ain't over till it's over."

If they can't pull this one out tonight, I'm pretty sure Leyland will find a way to get them back loose tomorrow.

That's what I love about baseball, you really can't predict anything. Say what you want about rust from too much rest, too tired after going 7 in the LCS, nagging injuries, hot bats, season series, and on and on. Of course, none of that compensates for the agony we fans go through.

You got off to a nice start, but went down hill after the HR by Rolen. Verlander pitched a terrible game. I would think Leyland is going to tear into some people after the game to get the Tigers motivated. They just don't seem ready to play. This Reyes guy is shutting you guys down.

It was exactly the layoff. I knew there was a problem when I heard several of the Tigers on the radio yesterday, broadcasting live from some bar. Too much partying, too many accolades, too much favorable press--this team is playing like it is full of itself. That's why Verlander grooved so many pitches. The team started to believe the season was over. They came in as "heavy favorites" and really should not be favored like that over any playoff team.

I agree with you about the rotation. I don't like Verlander to start a series either. Let's face it, though, we've only scored one run in this game and look awful at the plate. The layoff hurt this team, big time. They need to realize they are not THAT good, and go back to playing intense baseball again.

The layoff killed this team. It wasn't just the time off as much as the fact it gave the media a huge opportunity to build the team up too much. That's what the media does, and the more time they have, the more stories they concoct. They had this team built up to be some kind of legendary thing. The truth is they are only as good as their intensity will allow. This team cannot afford to just show up and think they've got a win-- horrible game, horrible effort.

I dare say I have bit more knowledge of the game than you do....13 years varsity head coach, and have been playing the game for 31 years...successfully at both I might add.

Your lack of understanding of the game is evident by your constant overreaction to a bad game here and there.
