| Who here participates in Fantasy Baseball? How many different leagues are you involved in?
How many people here will be interested in starting a league and then maybe transeferring it to Yahoo or something? I've only casually played (never actually paid to join). I wouldn't know how to transfer it over to a league to keep points, and I don't want to have to calculate it myself, so I'll need help in that! But we could start a draft here. I'd say 10-15 maybe 20 people would have to agree to it. Then we would have to decide on the categories (HR, K, etc...).
Sound like fun? | |

| Hmm...I've played Fantasy Football before (I won my league this year!!) but never baseball. I don't really care for fantasy football, but my uncle and a bunch of people in Michigan have a league every year (Kettering University...I'd assume one+ of them is somehow affiliated with Kettering U) so I join.
If we have a bunch of people from here, and only here, I'd be interested.

I'm sure we can get more than 4. Once it gets closer to sign up time we'll have a sign-up and see what happens. cbssportsline.com and mlb.com and yahoo.com don't seem to have any open baseball leagues as of yesterday.

Yeah, I guess you're right. I was thinking about doing it on Yahoo. The problem with waiting for the league to open is that everyone has to be logged in to do the draft. I was thinking we could do the draft ahead of time here, and then just transfer it over to Yahoo once it opens.

People make a list on Yahoo! of who they want and then on a specified date Yahoo! automatically drafts the players for you.

| Yeah, that's how Yahoo! (and most other places) do it. I do football mostly but I very rarely take part in a live draft. | |

| I played in a Fox Detroit Baseball Fantasy League last year which was a pubic league. We had two divisions a Leland and an Anderson division. I like this one because you don't have to choose a pitcher everyday you draft a pitching staff say the Tigers. Then you can set your lineup for a week in advance in case you are going to be out of town or you only want to make a few changes depending on who is playing who. This was a Points League which meant you were not playing other teams but you were trying to set your lineup so you could maximize your total points per day. In my opinion this is the easiest one to pay over H2H or Roto. I'd be willing to set it up and send out the invitations once Fox opens their game for 2008. I'll check back tomorrow to see if there are any replies. | |

| That sounds kind of cool. My problem with fantasy baseball is most leagues require daily participation. I like football because you set a lineup once a week and you're good to go. This suggestion solves that problem. | |

That sounds a lot like the one mlb.com had last year, only it was head-to-head. Although I'd rather draft individual pitchers, yeah, I'm interested in that!

| True - I usually set my line up for a week at a time - then check at lunchtime to make sure no one is injured or being rested that sort of thing. But yes BB is a little harder to watch than FB. | |

| With a total of 5 votes our poll on those interested in playing fantasy baseball was a total dud. However I wanted to pass on the information where I have ended up. First I’m trying Yahoo Sports this year instead of Fox Sports. Second I joined a Hitters league for fun which has no pitching. This cuts your research in ½ of trying to figure out the schedule and match the pitcher. The league name is Hitter's Lounge '08 (ID# 18318). Will only have 8 teams (at the moment) so it will be a small group. This one has a live draft on 01 Mar 08 at 12:30PM but you can let the computer do it for you if you can't be there. These are fun. Then I joined a league named TiGeRs FANS (ID # 33306) which will have 8 teams and it is full. If tow people are interested I can ask the commish if he will expand to 10 teams. My team name is Alkaline. This one has an auto draft. So I am in the process of setting my draft order strategy for 2008. If any one is interested in joining the hitters lounge just send me your email address and I’ll send you and invitation. Again if you are worried about how much time it will take, by having no pitchers to worry about my guess is 15 minutes a day to check your line up and maybe 1 hr on weekends to see if there are players in the pool who are hotter than your line up. Or if 6 people are interested I'll set up our own league and act as the commish. | |

The "P" slot can be filled with a SP or a RP, that's why I have a few RP on the bench. When someone isn't starting, I'll fill that spot with one of those. Someone took Jason Botts before I could!

| Hey Not a Bad looking Team - I had my draft last night and only took an hour so so. I missed getting Verlander by 1 person. I had a 7th draft position but managed to grab Magglio, Rodriquez, and Jones. As you can see I picked up a few Astros cause they're just down the street (20 miles). Actually my company built Minute Maid Park so I 've got pics of the construction when they laid home plate. Apparently DTF1 members don't care for fantasy baseball. Apparently. It's still early enough to get a league going. I only do one a year, but if we can get at least 8-10 members in the next 24-48 hours I could set one up. I only expect to be 8th because there's some really intelligent baseball people in this league. It's my pitchers that are doing it for me. Now I need my hitters to get hot. Morneau and Ankiel hit HRs today! Verlander does good for my team tonight... | |

I don't really care much for fantasy sports. I mean say I had Thome but not Verlander on the team - am I supposed to cheer for a HR?
People do that, too. I was at an Angels game and Guerrero got a big hit against the Tigers to basically kill us and the guy (a Tigers fan) says "Oh well. At least it was Guerrero - he's on my fantasy team".
Some fan! | |
