| I made this last year and it was a huge hit, I should have made more :haha: I didn't make it this year and everyone was ticked. However, I have to do xmas again this coming weekend so maybe... Dr. Grafton Tyler's Egg Nog First made in Washington, DC, circa 1903 Ingredients: 1 Qt Whipping Cream 1 Qt Bourbon Whiskey (bourbon, not sour mash) 1 Pt Whole Milk 1 Pt Brandy 1 Punch cup Rum 1 lb Pulverized sugar (Instant Dissolving) 12 Eggs Makes about 1 1/2 gallons Preparation: 1 Separate yolks & whites 2 Beat yolks until very light 3 Beat into the yolks, a little at a time, the sugar 4 Add slowly, the whiskey, brandy, & rum 5 Then add the milk 6 Then the whites of the eggs, beaten very stiff 7 Cream must be thick & beaten until as light as eggs, add last & mix thoroughly I only put in about a 3rd of the whiskey it called for and it was strong as it was. I also made some for the girls that didn't have any alcohol in it and it was good as well. Also, I sprinkled nutmeg on top of each individual cup/glass. It was very good. |

| Bourbon? :puke2: I think I'd substitute bourbon for Irish whiskey. The only half-decent bourbon I've tried is Maker's Mark which costs more than Irish whiskey and it still tastes like bourbon _________________ Coming Soon: A better signature!

Rye or whiskey?
I bought Jim Bean once when I was making a Manhattan since it technically calls for rye. Other than the fact rye costs a couple dollars more than non-rye Jim Bean and is harder to find I couldn't tell what the difference was.
I'll stick with Busmills/Jameson for my whiskey and Bombay Sapphire for my gin. _________________ Coming Soon: A better signature!
