So, my class in learning different types of poetry, and we've been writing ones of our own.
Here's my shot at a descriptive poem:
Tiger Stadium
There was a place on Michigan Avenue
In America’s motor city
Baseball was love
Young and old flocked here
They did it for years
On most nights in 68’
The place was packed like a swarm of bees
Hearing the crowd cheering on the home team
This must have truly been a sight
Where was Kaline?
My guess is as good as yours
Probably hitting the cover off the baseball
Running, for he was one of the all-time greats
Norm Cash, he sure could hit too
Dad always liked him, now I do
Lolich, well he was the king of the pitching mound
But, let’s not forget about another uncommon sight
31 won games is quite phenomenal
Someone did this, his name was Denny McLain
Out of sight, out of mind
Those sure where the days
Where the tickets were cheaper
Great fans weren’t hard to come by
The loyalty and devotion always there
Screaming fans and cracker jacks
Sitting back at old Tiger Stadium
Just another day at the ballpark in 1968
