Not exactly the most exciting purchase I've ever made but I did buy something today:

2003 Topps and 2003 Topps Traded Tigers team set
2004 Topps Traded Team Set

The only cards of note in there are a Bonderman and Zumaya rookie.

Those sets give me the complete collection from 2003-2007 including traded/update sets. I've got a ways to go to catch my Lions sets: Complete with EVERY year from 1956-2007.

I also bought this which has nothing to do with sports memorabilia:

The sure don't make videogames like they used to. This game cost me $13 or so (I overpaid but don't care - wanted to make sure I didn't get the Greatest Hits version) which is far less than new PS3/XBOX 360 games cost ($60) and is just as good (if not better) than new games. Nothing like old platformer games - best genre of all-time. They once accounted for about 1/3 of videogame sales but last year they were less than 3%. Who cares about graphics if the game sucks?

I can spend hours playing Atari 2600 games - those graphics are god awful. My favorite game is Bump 'N' Jump and it didn't exactly have good graphics.

If you include all Atari's, the best game is the Atari 7800's Galaga (I don't own a 7800 rant

) which is the sequel to Galaxian (which might be better than Bump 'n' Jump - it's tough to say).

Those graphics were state of the art in 1983! However, that game is fun to play!

Not quite. I doubt there's any game today that will be thought of in the same breath as Super Mario Bros. What video game designers need to realize is that there's more to it than graphics and high tech stuff. Sure I love my new videogames but they aren't nearly as good as some of the really old games.
